Children
Children's Choir: Room 204 9:00–9:30 am. Directed by Ruth Coldwell, the children’s choir will meet in room 204 at 9:00 each Sunday. This choir, for children ages 4 through grade 5, will singing in the 10:30 worship service about once each month and will prepare for a Christmas musical. Come make a joyful noise with us!
Nursery & Toddler Care: Education Wing, Room 202 The Nursery is staff from 8:20 until 11:30 am. by CPR trained childcare workers. We are committed to comfort, safety and loving care for our tiniest children. Our child-safe check-in policy assures that each child is released to the adult who brought the child to the nursery. Pagers are available for parents. Our toddlers will begin to learn simple stories, songs and finger-plays with an emphasis on God’s love. Nursery care is available for the 8:30 service as well as during the Sunday School hour and 10:30 worship service.
Children's Sunday School:
AGES 4 – 2ND GRADE - Education Wing, Room 206 9:30-10:20 am. In story and song, children ages 3 – grade 2 will meet at 9:30 in their very own classroom to experience the stories and parables of our faith. Through a discovery process that engages the whole child – hands, heart, mind, senses, and intuition – the children will learn the stories of the Bible and create their own hands-on response. Our storytellers and greeters will be there to help the children know God and the Bible. Pam Douce, Lead Teacher.
Acolyte Fellowship Sunday School: 3rd – 5th GRADE – Education Wing, Room 204 9:30 – 10:20 am. Church doesn’t need to be boring for kids! Designed especially for 3rd, 4th & 5th graders, Acolyte Fellowship will explore active involvement in the life of the church. This group will meet Sundays at 9:30 to sing a couple of songs, hear the stories of the Bible, learn about the calendar of the church, and engage in missions. Then at 10:30 they will become active participants in the worship life of the church. A team of adults is planning ways that AF kids can become worship leaders – lighting the candles, dressing the altar, serving communion, telling stories, and more! Learning by doing is our way of learning about our Christian faith ---invite your friends! Betty English, Lead Teacher.
Children’s Worship- During the 10:30 worship service, younger children (preschoolers-grade2) will leave the sanctuary after Children’s Moments for a time of sharing activities to learn about God’s love, snack, mission and play. In addition, children will be invited to begin learn Bible memory verses and simple prayers. Adult leaders for Children’s Worship will rotate and be listed in the bulletin each week. Sharon Gilbert will lead the memory activities with the children. Children’s Worship will meet in Room 201.
Vacation Bible School: VBS will be June 17th - June 21st in the summer of 2013.
Children's Council Special Events: The Epworth Children's Council plans a monthly event for children & families. Friday Family Movie nights, an Easter Egg Hunt, holiday gift making, and family picnics bring Epworth families together.
FAITH AND FAMILY CLASS – Room 210 (back of Sanctuary) – 9:30 – 10:20 am. Families are important at Epworth, and we encourage parents to bring their children to choir and/or Sunday School or Acolyte Fellowship…then grab some coffee in Common Grounds before gathering at 9:30 in Sharon’s office (room 210 at the back of the Sanctuary).
